Rear Brake Pads for 2006 Toyota Camry & 2006 Toyota RAV4

Maintain your vehicle's braking balance and stability with premium Rear Brake Pad Sets designed specifically for the 2006 Toyota Camry and 2006 Toyota RAV4. Because the Camry is a front-wheel-drive sedan and the RAV4 is a compact SUV (which saw a major generation redesign in 2006), their rear braking setups, caliper architectures, and surface areas are completely different.

1. 2006 Toyota Camry (XV30 / XV40 Transition Year)

In many global markets, 2006 was a transition year for the Camry. Depending on your specific region, your vehicle may belong to the final year of the XV30 generation or the debut year of the XV40 generation. Verifying your chassis code or production date is highly recommended before purchasing.

Option A: XV30 Generation (Production up to Jan/Feb 2006)

OEM Part Number: 04466-33140 (also replaces 04466-06030)

Brake Profile: Standard disc brake setup. This setup uses a separate internal drum mechanism inside the rotor hat dedicated exclusively to the parking brake (handbrake).

Top Aftermarket Options: * Akebono ProACT: ACT862 (Ultra-quiet ceramic, minimal dust)

Brembo Premium: P 83 059

Option B: XV40 Generation (Production from Feb/March 2006 onward)

OEM Part Number: 04466-06060 (also replaces 04466-06080 / 04466-YZZE3)

Brake Profile: Redesigned caliper system with slightly larger surface dimensions to handle the wider XV40 platform track.

Top Aftermarket Options: * Aisin (OEM Supplier): BPTO-2003

Bosch QuietCast: BC1212

2. 2006 Toyota RAV4 (XA30 Third Generation)

The 2006 model year marked the launch of the highly popular third-generation RAV4 (XA30). This generation introduced a completely revamped rear braking profile featuring a larger caliper assembly to manage both the front-wheel-drive (FWD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD/AWD) variants, as well as the newly introduced 3.5L V6 engine configuration.

Important Rear Brake Installation Guide

Caliper Piston Retraction: Unlike some vehicles that require the rear caliper pistons to be turned or wound back manually with a special tool, both the 2006 Camry and 2006 RAV4 feature traditional push-back pistons. A standard C-clamp or disc brake pad spreader tool is sufficient to compress the piston back into the housing.

Parking Brake Separation: Because the hydraulic rear brake pads operate independently from the internal handbrake drum shoes on these models, changing the rear disc pads will not directly adjust a loose handbrake lever. If your handbrake feels weak, the star-adjuster inside the rotor drum needs to be turned manually through the rotor inspection port.

Slide Pin Lubrication: Rear calipers are highly prone to road grime and moisture accumulation. Always extract the slide pins, clean away old degraded lubricants, and apply a thin layer of specialized high-temperature synthetic brake grease (such as silicone or ceramic-based paste). Avoid petrol-based greases, as they will cause the rubber dust boots to swell and fail.
